Pressure Doesn't Affect Me, Says Bullish Postecoglou

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou maintains that external scrutiny regarding his position will not influence his approach.

The team remains winless in his initial half-dozen games since the coach took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the club's stadium.

A group of Forest fans shouted, "you'll be dismissed in the morning", at the former Tottenham and Celtic manager following Thursday's 3-2 Europa League defeat at home to the Danish side.

Postecoglou's Response to Pressure

Postecoglou, though, stated that the Europa League trophy he won at Tottenham last season, before being dismissed in the summer, was evidence he does not let pressure to affect his coaching.

"It doesn't enter my head," he continued. "My duty lies in making sure this team advances and reaches a position where it can challenge for things," stated Postecoglou.

"If I start setting deadlines to that or stress over what is occurring next week then I am not performing the role I have been assigned.

"I just don't think it is beneficial to anybody. At the end of the day, I have to concentrate on the atmosphere, the practice sessions, the way we play, and as I mentioned recently, I am still very, very strong in my conviction that we are close to success.

"Put it this way - I was aware I was being dismissed at Tottenham approximately three or four months prior to I did, but that didn't stop me from winning something."

Professional History

The 60-year-old joined Spurs from Celtic in 2023 and fans at first embraced the coach for his offensive playing style, with the London club ending up 5th in the English top flight during his first season.

Postecoglou's second term was more difficult as Spurs finished 17th in the table. He did, however, guide the team to their first trophy in nearly two decades as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League championship match.

Current Situation

Forest visit Newcastle United on Sunday (2pm UK time).

With the current unfavorable streak of results, there is little doubt it has been a difficult beginning for Postecoglou.

And the statistics illustrate just how disappointing Forest have performed since his arrival.

Paul Jewell maintains the record, having failed to win any of his first 27 matches as Derby County manager in the 2007/08 season.

Nuno was dismissed after just three fixtures of this season when Forest were tenth in the standings. They are currently 17th, having drawn one and lost two of their three league games under Postecoglou.

He is the first permanent Forest coach in a century not to win any of initial six matches.

Fan Perspective

This campaign should have been one of Nottingham Forest's best in recent times. Qualification for Europe for the first time in 30 years, the strongest team this millennium and everyone at the club working towards the common goal.

Unexpectedly, currently, that has completely vanished out of the window. Nuno has departed, performances have been poor and on the recent evening the stadium criticized the new manager Ange Postecoglou after just six games.

And yet it's typically characteristic Forest, a club that shifts from success to self-made disaster like a novice motorist who can't stay in a traffic line.

Future Fixtures

With games against Newcastle, Chelsea, the Portuguese side, Bournemouth and Manchester United approaching, it's quite difficult to say if he can turn it around before it becomes increasingly negative.

But question any supporter and they'll inform you the identical thing, it's never dull at Nottingham Forest.
