Alarming Footage Reveals Moment Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A police sergeant who jumped to the assistance of a colleague that was assaulted by a knifeman was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman attacked," the constable was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording made public by the agency showed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade extended.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and fell to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, bringing the fight to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get something on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received two deep cuts to his throat and additional injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his partner's bleeding prior to medical personnel arrived.
The new honor comes after the three officers won internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area union branch in April 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The responses of the entire team ultimately rescued themselves and resulted in no civilians suffered any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, as stated by officials.
