Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and suggested they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide could have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
